Question: If you could live forever, would you and why?
Answer: “I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever,” –Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss USA contest.

OMG! The east legend is back!!!
For those who don’t remember, we announced the New Trabant back in August and as we said, the new electric concept made its debut today at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The new car revives the legendary name and it is build by a small design center but promises to hit the dealerships in 2012.
The concept features a 64 hp electric motor capable to deliver a top speed of 130 km/h and a range of about 250 km. A full recharge of the car takes about 8 hours but a fast recharge will also be available and will take about half an hour. These are the only details for the moment but as soon as we will find out something we will let you know!

These stories are just great!
It didn’t look like much at first, just a broken, mud-caked stone mug.
But when archaeologists in Jerusalem cleaned the 2,000-year-old vessel, they discovered ten lines of mysterious script.
“These were common stone mugs that appear in all Jewish households” of the time, said lead excavator Shimon Gibson of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
“But this is the first time an inscription has been found on a stone vessel” of this type.
Deciphering the writing could provide a window into daily life or religious ritual in Jerusalem around the time of Jesus Christ (interactive time line of early Christianity).
Working on historic Mount Zion—site of King David’s tomb and the Last Supper—the archaeologists found the cup near a ritual pool this summer. The dig site is in what had been an elite residential area near the palace of King Herod the Great, who ruled Israel shortly before the birth of Jesus.
From the objects that surrounded it, Gibson determined that the cup dated from some time between 37 B.C. and A.D. 70, when the Romans nearly destroyed Jerusalem after a Jewish revolt.
Among the dig’s other finds are ruins spanning the time of the founding of King Solomon’s Temple, around 970 B.C., to the destruction of Jerusalem by Christian crusaders in A.D. 1099.

We have seen veehee cool personal computer rigs. Seriously, really fraking amazing personal computer rigs. And then we saw a lot more of them. But this one beats them all. Because it kicks ass in space.
Jump to 8:40 to see this impressive array of laptops and screens, upside down in the International Space Station. Or downside sideways. Or left to right to back and then up a bit. Or wherever the hell they are. The video shows some of the highlights from the seventh day—September 3—of space shuttle Discovery’s mission STS-128, now docked to the ISS.
I wonder if they transmit their Wi-Fi signals using their pointy nipple antennas—because you know that in space it’s cold, so your nipples get hard, and therefore conduct wireless signals a lot better than relaxed nipples.

Google Earth is just great!
In March of 2007, a container ship called the M/V Republica di Genoa capsized while docked in Antwerp, Belgium. Thanks to the Google Earth “Historical Imagery” feature you can see an aerial photo which was captured while the ship still laid on its side. GEC member ‘fjk’ posted this find which you can load into Google Earth here. Make sure you click on the little clock icon in the top center of Google Earth 5 (or select the “View->Historical Imagery” menu option) so you can view the image dated April 29, 2007 which shows the ship. There are lots of pictures and more details on the incident on this web page
